German 1B is an introductory course for students who have no prior
instruction or experience with the German language. This course will
begin with basic concepts of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural
awareness. This will provide you with the language skills of listening,
speaking, reading, and writing. The course topics include greetings and
introductions; describing yourself and others; and exchanging
information about nationalities, countries of origin, personality
traits, and characteristics. You will converse about everyday school
activities, extracurricular activities, time, and weather. As you
progress through the lessons, you will develop a wide range of
vocabulary and will be able to incorporate the necessary grammatical
structures to support communication. By the end of the course, you will
be able to converse, read, and write about these topics in simple,
grammatically correct sentences in German. View TEKS.
